In 2005 I wandered into Shakti Yoga in Staten Island, NY during a time of profound struggle, doubt and questioning and found my way. I was mired in a corporate career for 20 years in NYC and I was over-consuming, overindulging and quite frankly sick of myself and my world. Yoga became for me my light in the darkness and now its become my way of life.
In 2015 I became a E~RYT 200 hour Certified Yoga Instructor and in June 2018 I completed the curriculum and earned my 500 Hour RYT at Sarvaguna Yoga Dhaarma in Dharamsala, India. I have over 1,000 hours teaching in various disciplines including Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Gentle Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation and Yoga Nidra and went on to found and operate my own successful yoga studio for 1.5 years, Up the Hill Yoga in West Townshend, VT
I strongly believe in the nourishing power of this ancient discipline on every level: physical, psychological and spiritual. My hope is to make yoga accessible to students of any age, background or physical ability while creating an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and safe.
With the global economy in chaos and the environment of the planet at risk, with war raging and suffering escalating, I feel compelled to help those who are suffering to heal and empower them through yoga. How do we move from the old story of shame, fear, and competition and move into a new story based on compassion, inclusiveness and cooperation.
My newly enlightened inner being is telling me the time is now right to follow my new passion, Karma Yoga – The Path of Right Action. I feel compelled to speak out about injustice and suffering and to try and motivate my students to seek answers and correct actions through compassionate practices such as yoga and meditation. We need to collectively find a way to transmit this energy from our mats to the wider world TODAY, HERE and NOW. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you.
I’m an aspiring blogger. I also love sharing my Puerto Rican heritage with the wider community through Latin music and dance, volunteering in community projects and hiking in the forest. I was born in Manhattan and raised in the South Bronx. I’m fluent in English and Spanish.
