Welcome to The Yoga Life NYC and Holistic Center! We are delighted to have you as our guest. The following guidelines have been developed to ensure that every student has a positive and peaceful experience at our studio.
Come to class on time and please try to arrive at least 15 – 10 minutes prior to class start time. If you do arrive a few minutes late, please walk into the studio quietly and take your time to practice breathing and some light stretches before joining the class. If nobody shows up, the doors close after 15 minutes of class start time.
Remove your shoes at the door as we practice in our bare feet.
Turn off your cell phone or leave it in the car.
Pay your teacher on time without having to be reminded.
Bring your own mat; it’s more hygienic. We do have mats to rent if you forget yours for 1 euro.
It’s okay to sweat which assists the purification process through movement and heat. Bring your own towel or practice rug to absorb sweat.
Refrain from wearing perfume, cologne or strong essential oils. Many people are sensitive or allergic to various fragrances and scents.
If possible, practice on an empty stomach. Wait at least 2-3 hours (or longer) after eating. A full stomach is a hindrance to the correct practice of postures and breathing.
Be sure to notify the teacher of any injuries or medical conditions. This helps the teacher know how to assist you and give you modifications. Not every pose is for everyone.
Let go of the competitive mind-set. The purpose of yoga is to calm the mind and to discover your body and breath. Where it takes you is up to you!
Enter the studio quietly respecting those that have already begun their practice.
If you need to leave early, please advise your teacher before class and make every effort to walk out of the studio quietly to not disturb the other students.
